Today was a really cold day here in NYC, a cold day that I spent outside the Nintendo store At Rockefella Center waiting for it to open so I could get a Ninetendo Wii for my little sister. The store opens at 9 and I was there by 7:30 and there was already a line when I got there. On the website the store claims that they get shipments of the Wii daily so they have them on a first come, first serve basis which is understandable. every other store i have been to since last wekk Wedensday has been sold out of the Wii. It's freaking crazy.
As I said I get there and there already a bunch of people ahead of me on the line. It was only like 30 degrees outside and the winds were serious; this woman comes out and she just starts counting and she literally get like four people away from me and she like "that's it were sold out" I would swear I only heard her count to like 30 or something so natually me, the four people in front of me, and the people behind me were pretty pissed. Now I may be thinking about this the wrong way, but they do know this thing is in high demand so when they reorder them why only order 30 or 40 of them? If I know that at 9am at least 60 people are going to be beating down the door Im going to have at least 70 of the things in stock.
Anyway, so the women who was standing in front of me was really angry because this was the fourth time she was on the same line and she always kept coming up short. So her and I start talking and we think maybe we should take a chance and walk over to Toys R Us. So we walk, it's only a good five blocks away, weget to the store and low and behold there is a display mountian of Nintendos just sitting there and the store is basically empty which is a rare thing on 42nd street, no matter what time of day. The funny thing is they have the things roped off and there are these guys dressed like secret service standing around them making sure everyone gets one per customer. LOL. It was too funny. It was like they were protecting royality, sunglasses, ear-mics and all.
I guess it was a precaution. because from what one of the door gurads told us some woman attacked one of the employees yesterday morning, because they wouldn't let her buy more than one. So this woman and I really lucked out because Toys get their shipments every Sunday night after they close but the shipments they were supposed to get last night came this morning around 5am and theyr were not expecting to get any Wii until after Christmas sooo we were very lucky.
