I always wanted to open my own Literary center. I was even thinking of opening up my own Day Care/Youth Center. Basically it would be a place where working parents can bring their young children, babies or toddlers to be taken care of while they work. It would also be a place where school-aged children can come and get tutoring if they need it, or they can hang out with their friends without having to be on the street. I woykld have to figure out some way to make it affordable for everyone. I think that's why so many kids get into trouble. There is no place for them to really go where they can get into things beside each other. Education is really not a top priority here in the US and it's a shame.
I think kids today don't have enough places like that and it's becoming more and more obvious as time passes. It happens to be an even bigger problem in the black community. I hate to speak poorly of my own people, but we have such a negative attitude toward bettering ourselves unless it's by playing a sport or going into the entertainment biz that it's sickening. I can't tell you how many times other kids would get in my face because I spoke properly majority of the time. As if that was my way of acting all superior to them. No actually it's the way people are supposed to speak. Even though I'm only 24 I feel like such and old fart trying to tell some of the teens that live in my neighborhood the importance of school and how rare it is for someone to really make it in the entertainment or sports world.
